Dangerous neighborhoods in Philadelphiatioga-Nicetown, Allegheny West, Strawberry mansion, Hunting Park, North Central, Fairhill, Harrowgate, Haddington - Carroll Park. In my opinion, the entertainment destination eclipses the nearby Fishtown neighborhood for those who don't know it. Instead of visiting the casino, try going to The Fillmore down the street for a concert. For the most part, North Philadelphia is home to very poor families.
The average tourist wouldn't venture to North Philadelphia, however, there are plenty of historic sites located in that part of the city. In general, Philadelphia is quite safe. Most crimes and murders are isolated and are almost always drug-related.
