Kensington serves either to divide or unite the communities that are located in Philadelphia's Lower Northeast and North neighborhoods. It is situated inside the city's River Wards region, which is a group of villages situated in North Philadelphia adjacent to the Delaware River. The River Wards are known for their proximity to the waterway. As a result of its placement in the river neighborhood, Kensington is somewhat different from the towns that are situated to the west. Our team came face to face with a community whose limits have been fought from one generation to the next, from one street corner to the next, and from a beginner to a native during the course of our study into the Kensington area. It presented a complete viewpoint of a historically noteworthy neighborhood in Philadelphia that has not only developed but also became distinct within its own limits over the course of its existence. Olde Kensington can be found in the neighborhood bordered by Cecil B. DeMille Boulevard and Kensington Avenue. Olde Kensington is a neighborhood in Philadelphia that is included in the Lower Northeast area of the city. It is situated around two kilometers outside of the city's central business district (downtown).
As is the case in many of Philadelphia's communities, the boundaries are fluid and difficult to pin down. Some real estate agents and brokers are of the opinion that this is due to the process through which land is developed and purchased. Some people believe that it is due to the fact that Front Street divides the neighborhood in half, so creating two distinct parts of the Kensington neighborhood: one is closer to Fishtown, while the other is closer to Ludlow and Northern Liberties.
